I began my time at GYIP as a young person attending the holiday programme and evening senior youth club. Following this I became a positive role model and volunteer within these provisions. Since then I have progressed to become a sessional, part time and now in my role as a full time worker. My role includes the preparation and delivery of our services such as our work in local high schools, youth provisions and holiday programme. I also oversee our youth committee and assist them to shape our services to best meet the needs of them and their peers. In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching football as well as time spent with my Wife and Daughter.
Meet more of the Team
Joanne Mullan
Vice Chair
It is a real privilege for me to sit on the Executive Committee for GYIP. I grew up in Govan and I have taught in Govan so I am very aware of the difficulties children, young people and their families in this area face. My professional work in Education and my personal values completely align with the innovative and empowering projects that GYIP delivers. Being involved as a management member is like being a part of a family and that’s what the young people feel and need too. This is community work at its best.
Kristofer Shaw
Chairperson
I started with GYIP as a young person who attended the holiday programmes and have remained a part of it ever since. Now, in the role of the Chairperson of the Management Committee, I am helping to give back to those who have helped me and keep the services that GYIP offers to our young people and the future of Govan itself. This is something that I am proud to say GYIP are fantastic at doing, and it fills me with pride that they are able to keep this up, and it is true community spirit.
Outside of GYIP, I have recently graduated from university with my Honours degree in Business and help where I can with any HR and future planning.
Gina Campbell
Youth Work Co-ordinator
I started in 2004 following my time with Glasgow city council as a youth worker. In 2012 I was given the role as Youth work manager and began to oversee and develop the various provisions Govan Youth Information Project delivers. My role includes the supervision of our youth work staff, finances and reports. My favourite things to do are spending time with my grandkids and going on holiday.
Kevin Burke
Project Manager
My name is Kevin Burke and I am the Project Manager at GYIP. I started at GYIP in May 2004 after I had completed a student placement here while studying for my PG in Community Education degree. I initially worked as a Youth Project Worker (Outreach) before moving positions to the Project Worker (Base) for a period of 3 years. I left for a spell but returned in May 2017 with the goal of helping young people of Govan achieve their potential. I’m a fitness/health enthusiast and love exercising as well as the occasional rave, even though I’m cracking on a bit.
Steven Reilly
Treasurer
As someone who grew up and went to school in Govan and still has family in the area. I have been a member of the management committee for the last year and have participated in fundraising for the project over the past few years. Looking forward to using my experience in the business world in the role of Treasurer.
Naheem
Secretary
I have over 10 years of experience in the third sector, and a background in marketing comms across a variety of industries. I also provide IT support and planning for GYIP.
